Family Nurse Practitioner Joins Seneca Healthcare Center

May 20, 2020, MORRIS, IL – A new family nurse practitioner has joined Dr. Colin Kao at the Seneca Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital.

Nina Seplak, F.N.P.-B.C., is teaming up with Dr. Kao to care for patients at the office located at 271 N. Main St., Seneca. The office is open Monday-Friday, and the phone number is: 815-357-8511.

As a family nurse practitioner, Seplak is qualified to serve as the primary care health care provider for patients of all ages. She holds a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate, allowing her to order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose disease, provide appropriate treatments and prescribe medications.

A resident of Coal City, Seplak has worked for more than 14 years as a nurse and has served for three years as a family nurse practitioner in Watseka, Ill. She completed her master’s degree in nursing at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Ky. and had previously acquired her associate’s degree in nursing at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson, N.C. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

In April, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers completed an affiliation agreement with Howd Medical Center, with Dr. Kao succeeding Dr. Dana Howd, an independent internist/pediatrician who served the Seneca community for 26 years. The agreement enabled Dr. Howd to make the transition from primary care in the office setting to a full-time hospitalist focused on the care of hospitalized patients at Morris Hospital.

Dr. Howd actively worked with Morris Hospital over the past several months to recruit both Dr. Kao and Seplak. A board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Kao has served as a physician for 15 years and has more than 10 years’ experience working in a family practice setting, including five years in Coal City.
