Family nurse practitioner joins Coal City Healthcare Center

July 10, 2017, MORRIS, IL – Family nurse practitioner Stacey McGuan is now seeing patients at the Coal City Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, 4 East North Street, joining pediatrician Aamair Tajuddin, D.O., and internist Aftab Khan, M.D.

A Wilmington native, McGuan is qualified to serve as the primary health care provider for patients of all ages. She holds a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate, allowing her to order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose disease, provide appropriate treatments, and prescribe medications.

McGuan has worked as a family nurse practitioner in Coal City for the past three years, where she has resided since 1995. Prior to that, she was a registered nurse at Morris Hospital for 19 years and was awarded the Nurse of the Year Award in 2008.

“Morris Hospital is like home,” McGuan says. “Ultimately, my entire nursing career was centered around Morris Hospital, so I feel a bond with the surrounding communities.”

McGuan received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and she is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

McGuan says she pursued a career in nursing at the age of 17 because she believed it would be an exciting and successful career choice. Almost 20 years later, she felt prepared to become a primary care provider, a role that allows her to guide patients during their health care journeys.

“After 20 years at the hospital, I felt I had the experience and knowledge to serve the community in a different capacity,” McGuan says about becoming a family nurse practitioner. “Now I am able to encourage patients to become a key player in their health care plan.”

As a family nurse practitioner, McGuan is dedicated to providing holistic care, encouraging each patient to become involved in their individualized health care plan through education and promotion of healthy lifestyle choices. She believes in establishing an open, honest relationship with her patients. Above all, she believes these relationships should be built on trust.
