Morris Hospital Diamond-Coal City Campus Set to Open February 11

January 31, 2020, Morris, Illinois –Morris Hospital will be opening its new Diamond-Coal City Campus on Tuesday, February 11. Located at 1450 E. Division Street immediately west of McGinty Street on the north side of Route 113, the $7.1 million, 13,400 square foot medical facility will provide office space for physicians and advanced practice professionals, as well as walk-in care, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, physical and occupational therapy, and occupational medicine services for area employers.

“Without a doubt, the new Morris Hospital Diamond-Coal City Campus is going to be among the most impressive medical facilities in the region,” says Mark Steadham, President & CEO of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. “Our staff has been preparing for opening day and looks forward to serving the community in our beautiful new facility that was designed with staff efficiencies and patient experience top-of-mind.”

Internal medicine physician Dr. Spyro Analytis, pediatrician Dr. Darakhshan Anjum, and family nurse practitioner Stacey Johnson will be moving into the new facility from their current Coal City office locations. Additionally, Dr. Erik Muraskas, obstetrician/gynecologist, will have office hours at the new Diamond-Coal City Campus.

Walk-in convenient care will be available 7 days a week for patients 12 months and older who are experiencing mild illness and injury. Patients will be seen by a nurse practitioner.

“Convenient care provides a walk-in option when your primary care provider isn’t available,” explains Kim Smith, Director of Immediate Care and Occupational Medicine at Morris Hospital. “You would use convenient care for the same types of conditions that you would call your doctor and request a same-day appointment, such as cough, chest congestion, upper respiratory infection, flu-like or allergy symptoms, sore throat, earache, minor injuries and sprains, and minor rashes.”

Smith says convenient care visits will be billed similarly to a physician office visit, with any x-rays or rapid lab tests resulting in an additional charge.

Laboratory services will also be provided at the new Morris Hospital Diamond-Coal City Campus, with orders accepted from any provider. While appointments are recommended for laboratory services, walk-ins are welcome but encouraged to check the hospital website first for laboratory hours at the Diamond-Coal City Campus.

X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, bone density and CT scan will also be available using brand new, state-of-the-art technology.

The new Morris Hospital Diamond-Coal City Campus also features a rehabilitation gym where highly qualified, licensed therapists from Morris Hospital will be available to provide one-on-one physical and occupational therapy.

In the spring, Morris Hospital will be launching Occupational Medicine services for area employers at the Diamond-Coal City Campus, with services including drug and alcohol testing, worker injury services, physical exams, and wellness and safety programs.

Community members will have the opportunity to tour the new Morris Hospital Diamond-Coal City Campus during an open house being scheduled for this spring.
