Dr. Syed Ahmed, Morris Hospital Cardiovascular SpecialistsJoining Morris Hospital in the fall of 2013, Dr. Syed Ahmed came to the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists from Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where he was a practicing cardiologist for 10 years. His specialized training as an interventional cardiologist makes him qualified to perform advanced testing and procedures in the Morris Hospital Cath Lab, including angiography, angioplasty and stenting of the coronary and vascular arteries. He is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Ahmed received his medical degree from Sindh Medical College in Pakistan and completed an internal medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., followed by a three-year fellowship in general cardiology at State University of New York, Brooklyn, N.Y. and a one-year fellowship in interventional cardiology at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Every patient is important to Dr. Ahmed, whether he is seeing the patient for a routine follow-up or a complex heart condition. Dr. Ahmed is committed to listening to his patients and spending time with them. This enables him to gain a better understanding of their condition and build trusting patient-physician relationships. MOSTAFA GHANIM, M.D., INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST

Dr. Mostafa Ghanim joined Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists in 2023 following four years of fellowship training in cardiology and interventional cardiology. In addition to seeing patients for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, arrhythmia, irregular heartbeat, and other coronary and vascular issues, Dr. Ghanim performs procedures in the cath lab at Morris Hospital including coronary and peripheral angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement.

Dr. Ghanim received his medical degree from Cairo University Medical School in Egypt and completed an internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at One North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Dr. Ghanim strives to provide the highest quality of care to his patients, ensuring that they benefit from the most effective and evidence-based treatments available. In his interactions with patients, Dr. Ghanim is dedicated to providing patient-centered care and prioritizes the unique needs, values, and preferences of each patient. He believes in open and honest communication, actively listening to his patients, and involving patients in the decision-making process regarding their treatment options, always empowering patients to take active roles in managing their cardiovascular health.

ALEXANDER GREEN, M.D., ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST†

Dr. Alexander Green is a board-certified electrophysiologist from Loyola University Medical Center who sees patients with heart rhythm conditions in the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists’ Morris office.

As an electrophysiologist, Dr. Green has special expertise in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm conditions and implantation of cardiac devices including pacemakers and defibrillators. He performs procedures in the Morris Hospital Cath Lab.

Dr. Green completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, also at Loyola. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology.

MARY MENZ, D.O., GENERAL CARDIOLOGIST

Cardiologist Dr. Mary Menz, Morris Hospital Cardiovascular SpecialistsHaving previously practiced for 13 years in Aurora and Joliet, Dr. Mary Menz joined the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists in 2018.

As a cardiologist, Dr. Menz has expertise in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, blood pressure management, heart failure, circulation problems of the lower extremity and cholesterol management. Her specialized training in general cardiology makes her qualified in using non-invasive tests like stress tests, echocardiograms and electrocardiograms to evaluate and diagnose cardiac disorders. She has a special interest in women’s cardiovascular health and cardio-oncology.

Dr. Menz attended medical school at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Olympia Fields, Ill, where she also completed an internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Menz strongly believes the patient comes first. She puts special emphasis on patient satisfaction and the importance of not only listening to the patient, but hearing what they are trying to say.

Nurse Practitioner Sherese Pruss, Morris Hospital Cardiovascular SpecialistsSherese Pruss, N.P.-B.C., is a nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology with the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists. She assists providers by seeing patients at the Morris and Channahon locations.

Sherese brings more than 21 years of nursing experience to the practice, including 16 years as a nurse practitioner focusing on cardiovascular conditions. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Pruss is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

STERLING 'SCOTT' REESE, M.D., INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST†

Dr. Sterling “Scott” ReeseCardiologist Dr. Sterling "Scott" Reese is an interventional cardiologist who joined the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists in 2020. He has more than 30 years of experience in cardiology.

As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Reese assists the Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists exclusively at Morris Hospital. He helps with STEMI and general cardiology cases, along with overseeing consults, stress tests, echocardiograms and procedures in the Cath Lab. He does not see outpatients in the clinics. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Echocardiography.

A native of Naperville, Ill., Dr. Saeed received his medical degree from National University of Science and Technology in Pakistan, and completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Seton Hall University, Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, N.J.

Dr. Saeed believes that education is a cornerstone to the prevention and management of heart disease. That is why he takes time to help patients understand how to manage their condition. Dr. Wix received his medical degree from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., and completed in internal medicine residency at University of Chicago Hospital and Clinics, followed by a cardiology fellowship at University of Chicago Hospitals and Pritzker School of Medicine.

For your convenience, we suggest that you download and complete our Healthcare Centers – General Patient Registration Form before coming in for your office visit.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete registration and a health questionnaire.

When you come for your appointments, please remember to bring the following:

  • Driver’s License or a valid ID
  • Insurance information
  • Referral Letter (if required)
  • Reports, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, etc. and any other relevant information
  • List of medications (if any)
