Administrative Assistant Noted for Being a Valuable Asset
April 25, 2018 – Morris Hospital’s Risk Management Administrative Assistant Lizzy Schneider has made a big impact on a lot of people in the less than three years she’s been with the hospital. Between her infectious smile, the positive vibe she gives off in the hallway, and the way she willingly helps in any way she can, Schneider has developed a reputation for being a stand out, role model employee. She was recognized as Morris Hospital’s Fire Starter of the Month for March.
A Coal City native who now resides in Morris, Schneider joined the team at Morris Hospital in July 2015 after graduating from the University of St. Francis. While her current role gives her an opportunity to interact with many departments through her work with policy edits and approvals, daily safety huddles, compliance meetings, employee health and the hospital’s Wellness Committee, it’s Schneider’s volunteer community service work that has made an especially memorable impression.
As a few examples, she has helped out at the hospital’s Rhythm of Our Youth screenings at area high schools, volunteered in parades, mobile food pantries, and bell ringing at holiday time. On an especially snowy day this past winter, she voluntarily cleaned off cars in the employee parking lot when she was unable to do her usual after work workout.
“Lizzy truly deserves the Fire Starter award,” says Linda Petrick, Director of Risk Management/Compliance Officer at Morris Hospital. “She is an excellent employee, she is wonderful with patients, and she works well with the management team to respond to patient concerns. She goes above and beyond in all that she does and is very professional, making her a valuable asset to Morris Hospital.”
Schneider was nominated for the Fire Starter award by a number of peers, including Morris Hospital Wellness Manager Leigh Anne Hall who said, “Lizzy leads by example. She just does things, without expecting recognition. She is professional, compassionate, respectful, and shows common courtesy. She is a young soul with mature values.”
In early civilizations, fire starters were the individuals who had the important job of keeping the flame alive. With over 1,300 employees, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is the largest employer in Grundy County and winner of the Advisory Board Company’s 2017 Workplace of the Year award.
