July 29, 2026, MORRIS, IL – Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has announced that it is proceeding with plans to build a 22,900 square foot, two-story medical office building in Ottawa on the east side of Columbus Street, just north of Norris Drive.
The $17.2 million facility was approved by the Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers’ Board of Directors on July 27 and will include a diagnostic center and multi-specialty physician offices.
Construction is expected to begin by late fall 2026, with a target completion by early spring 2028. The new Morris Hospital medical office building will be accessible from the traffic light at Deleon and Columbus streets.
Services planned for the new medical office building include laboratory, diagnostic imaging, cardiac diagnostics, multi-specialty physician offices with up to 30 patient exam rooms, and the potential to offer additional services. The design of the building allows for additional square footage in a future phase of construction.
According to President & CEO Tom Dohm, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has been offering services in Ottawa since 2012. In 2018, the hospital purchased nine parcels of land totaling just over two acres in anticipation of building a medical office building in the future.
“When we purchased the properties in Ottawa, we were just getting started on significant renovations at the Morris Hospital main campus that continued into 2024,” said Dohm. “Since then, we have continued to expand our services in Ottawa in response to positive community support. That brings us to today, where we have a strong base of 21 physicians and advanced practice professionals providing primary care, ob/gyn, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, and GI services in three different office buildings in the medical community north of Norris Drive.”
“The strong support that we have received in Ottawa makes construction of a premier medical office building the highest strategic priority for our organization at this time,” added Dohm.
Dohm said it is not yet determined which physicians will be located in the new medical office building, adding that when the building opens in 2028, Morris Hospital will continue to provide patient services at its multi-suite facility located at1306 Gemini Circle, including physical therapy.
“The City of Ottawa has been overwhelmingly supportive and welcoming ever since we started this process several years ago,” said Dohm. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be moving ahead with our plans to provide the residents of Ottawa and surrounding communities expanded access to Morris Hospital providers and services.”
