Attention Guys: Free Prostate Screenings Available
In recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, Morris Hospital is offering free prostate screenings for men in conjunction with Advanced Urology Associates. The free screening will include a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and a digital rectal exam.
Screenings will be held at Advanced Urology Associates, 1401 Lakewood Drive, Unit 3, Morris, on Tuesday, September 10 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. with Dr. Gregory Lewis; Friday, September 13 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. with Dr. Peter Tek; and Tuesday, September 24 from 2:30-4 p.m. with Dr. Luke Cho.
The screening is intended for men ages 50 to 70 who do not have prostate cancer and are free of symptoms. Men at high risk for prostate cancer, including African American men and men who have a close relative diagnosed with prostate cancer before age 65, should speak with their physician about beginning testing at an earlier age.
Although prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men, the survival rate is close to 100 percent when prostate cancer is detected during the earliest stages.
Limited appointments are available. Advance registration is required by calling 815-416-6089.
