Family Medicine physician joins Yorkville Campus

March 30, 2017, MORRIS, IL – Dr. Shaily Macker, a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined the Morris Hospital Yorkville Campus105 Saravanos Dr., Yorkville.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. Macker is trained to care for patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. In addition to diagnosing and treating illness, Dr. Macker provides preventive care, routine check-ups, health risk assessments, immunizations, screening tests, and personalized counseling on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She has a specific interest in preventive care, women’s health, and acute and chronic disease management.

“My goal is to provide excellent, compassionate and personalized care for patients,” Dr. Macker says. “Morris Hospital is a close-knit hospital where people know each other and their patients well. Here, people care for each other like family. I feel I will fit in very well.”

Dr. Macker attended medical school and completed an internship at Government Medical College in Surat, India. She completed a 3-year family medicine residency at Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Prior to joining Morris Hospital, Dr. Macker practiced as a family medicine physician for more than 11 years, including the last two years at an outpatient setting in Shorewood, Ill.

When growing up in India, Dr. Macker remembers being fascinated while listening to stories from her aunts who were doctors. Now she realizes those stories were what led her to pursue a career in medicine.

“I was inspired by those stories,” Dr. Macker says, “I wanted to do something in my life that would make a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Dr. Macker believes in working collaboratively with patients to establish long-term relationships based on trust so that together they can achieve the best possible outcome. She is an advocate for preventive and holistic medicine that seeks to prevent disease or establish treatment plans before long-term complications arise. In particular, Dr. Macker has a passion for educating patients on how they can become healthy, helping them make informed decisions about their health and teaching them how to achieve their health-related goals.

“By the end of the day, that’s what makes me feel satisfied by the work I have done,” Dr. Macker says. “My greatest reward is getting to know my patients and gaining their trust. I love interacting with my patients, and I want to become a part of their life so they become part of my life.”

Dr. Macker and her husband have a 5-year-old daughter who “keeps us busy and happy,” she says. To schedule a free meet-and-greet appointment with Dr. Macker, call 630-553-4600.
