June 29, 2026, MORRIS, IL – For some people, a career is simply a job. For Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers Clinic Nurse at the Minooka Healthcare Center-Ridge Road, Ashley Babich, a career is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others every day. In recognition of her dedication to excellent patient care, Babich has been named the June Fire starter of the month.

Babich first discovered her passion for nursing when she witnessed firsthand the impact healthcare professionals have on patients and their families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Inspired by the compassion and support provided by nurses, she knew healthcare was the right path for her and a meaningful way to serve the Channahon community she calls home.

Now, seven years later, Babich continues to make that same impact through her dedication to exceptional patient care, her commitment to her coworkers, and her willingness to go above and beyond to help others.

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers Healthcare Centers Practice Manager Kathy O’Neill says Babich’s work ethic and positive attitude make her an invaluable member of the team.

“Ashley is an incredibly hard worker with an exceptional work ethic who comes to work ready to give her best every day,” says O’Neill. “She is someone the staff know they can turn to with questions, and she will help them in any way she can. I appreciate her willingness to take initiative. When something needs to be done, Ashley jumps in and makes it happen.”

While Babich takes pride in helping her coworkers, she says the relationships she has built with patients is one of the most rewarding parts of her role. Those long-term connections allow her to become a trusted part of her patients’ healthcare journeys. Whether she is welcoming a new family to the clinic or helping a child feel comfortable during an appointment, she values the opportunity to make a positive difference in each patient’s experience.

“One of the things I enjoy most about my work is the relationships I get to build with patients,” Babich says. “The newborns I saw when I first started working here are turning seven this year. It’s special to watch them grow and to see them come back each year for checkups.”

In nominating Babich for Fire Starter of the Month, one coworker wrote that she “embodies the Morris Hospital standards of conduct on a daily basis.”

The nominator went on to add that Babich is frequently recognized by her coworkers as someone deserving of the Fire Starter honor because of her “willingness to support others, serve as a trusted resource, and provide encouragement when teammates need it most.”

In early civilizations, fire starters were individuals who had the important job of keeping the flame alive. With over 1,500 employees, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is the largest employer in Grundy County.
