Pelvic Health Therapy

Do you leak urine when you laugh, cough, jump, move quickly, or sneeze?

Do you experience constipation?

Do you have issues with controlling your bowel and bladder function?

Do you experience pain with intercourse? Do have pain in your pelvic region during daily activities?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may benefit from pelvic health therapy, available at our Orthopedic & Sports Medicine physical therapy locations in Morris and Ottawa.

When you’re dealing with issues like bladder leaks, pelvic pain, or core weakness, pelvic floor physical therapy can be life-changing. We treat the root cause, not just the symptoms, so you can get back to living confidently and comfortably.

Where is pelvic health therapy offered?

Pelvic health therapy is available at two Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Physical Therapy locations:

Morris – 1051 W. U.S. Route 6, Suite 400, Morris, IL; Phone 815-942-8301

Ottawa – 1306 Gemini Circle, Suite 3, Ottawa, IL; Phone: 815-431-9980

What diagnoses and symptoms are treated through pelvic health therapy?

Our pelvic health therapy services may be appropriate for women who are experiencing:

  • Bladder dysfunction; including urinary urgency and incontinence, interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome
  • Pelvic, vulvar, urethral, and vaginal pain syndromes
  • Associated pain syndromes, including pain in the tailbone, lower abdomen, lower back, groin, buttock or hip
  • Bowel dysfunction, including chronic constipation, difficulty passing a bowel movement and incomplete emptying, increased bowel urgency and fecal incontinence
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
What can I expect during therapy?

We offer personalized, one-on-one physical therapy sessions in a private setting tailored to our patient’s symptoms and health goals. Our team includes clinicians with many years of physical therapy experience who have been trained specifically in pelvic health rehabilitation through the Herman and Wallace Institute.

Our specially trained physical therapists use a specialized, evidence-based approach that helps retrain the deep muscles supporting the bladder, bowel, and sexual health. Therapy addresses dysfunction in these areas through the utilization of manual therapies, functional retraining activities, modalities, therapeutic exercises, and education to address dysfunctions in these areas. This can include internal and external interventions.
