Morris Hospital Auxiliary Announces Virtual Golf Tournament to Support Patient Transportation and Lifeline Programs
October 5, 2020, MORRIS, IL – In place of its annual Golf & Cards Tournament, Morris Hospital Auxiliary will host a virtual golf tournament now through October 27, with all proceeds benefitting the Morris Hospital Patient Transportation and Lifeline® programs. Registration information is available at www.morrishospital.org/golf.
“This year is the 25th anniversary of the Annual Auxiliary Golf & Cards Tournament, so it was a very difficult decision to change from an in-person event to a virtual tournament,” said Hannah Wehrle, Morris Hospital Auxiliary & Foundation Officer. “Ultimately, we made the decision with the health and safety of our community in mind. Even though we won’t be able see everyone’s smiling faces as originally planned, we are very excited about hosting a virtual – and unique – opportunity to support two very important Morris Hospital programs,” she added.
Those participating in the Morris Hospital Auxiliary Virtual Golf Tournament can play golf at any golf course through October 27. Golfers will keep track of their own score and submit their results electronically to the Auxiliary office or in-person to the Morris Country Club Pro Shop if playing at Morris Country Club or The Creek. There will not be a Bridge or Euchre Tournament this year.
The cost to enter the 18-hole virtual tournament is $50 per person and does not include greens fees at the golf course participants choose. Although golfers may play at any golf course of their choosing, Morris Country Club and The Creek are extending a unique opportunity as Golf Course Sponsors. This special partnership allows participants to play at The Morris Country Club or The Creek without being a club member. Non-members may play on these two courses through Oct. 27 for $50 greens fee (including cart) in addition to the $50 registration fee for the event. Participants should mention entry in the MH Virtual Golf Tournament when scheduling tee times. Weekends are excluded at the Morris Country Club course. All participants are asked to adhere to social distancing.
The player with the best score will receive a $500 cash prize, second place is $250, and third place is $100. Chances to enter a 50/50 raffle are also being sold online. Golf results and winners will be posted online on October 28.
The Morris Hospital Auxiliary supports Patient Transportation and Lifeline® programs with proceeds from the golf outing. Both programs provide vital services to the communities served by Morris Hospital.
“For 22 years, patients have relied on Morris Hospital’s complimentary Patient Transportation Service,” said Wehrle. “This landmark program has provided more than 256,000 trips to and from medical appointments, making health care accessible to patients who live in more than 20 area communities. While the Patient Transportation program carries out a commitment to accessible medical care, Lifeline® is an emergency response system that provides instant access to emergency assistance and peace-of-mind for individuals who live alone.”
Sponsorships with varying benefits are available at the following levels: $5,000 Top Flite, $2,500 Eagle, $1,000 Driver, $750 Birdie and $500 Par. The Morris Hospital Medical Staff and Busey Bank have claimed the “Top Flite” sponsorship by making a lead gift to the event. U.S. Bank has committed to an Eagle sponsorship at the $2,500 level, and Advanced Urology Associates has committed to a Driver Sponsorship at the $1,000 level.
