Statement from Morris Hospital Regarding Masks and Donations
March 23, 2020, Morris, IL – We would like to clear up incorrect information circulating on social media about the mask supply at Morris Hospital. While there is a shortage of personal protective equipment across the country and ALL hospitals are conserving supplies, we want to assure you that masks are available and are being worn by Morris Hospital staff based on CDC standard and transmission-based precautions for caring for patients with confirmed or possible COVID-19. Inaccurate social media posts are being made by individuals stating that masks are only being given to doctors. These statements are inaccurate.
While our mask supply is stable at this time, we are accepting masks and face shields from businesses and members of the community who would like to make a donation. At this time, we are not accepting homemade cloth masks. Donations can be dropped off at the Receiving dock at the hospital, which is accessible from Lisbon Street on the west side of the hospital campus. Please follow signs to Receiving, ring the buzzer at the bottom of the dock ramp, and leave the donation outside the door.
Please continue to check our website for accurate information and for quick links to the Centers for Disease website. The most important thing the community can do at this time is make sure you are following the State of Illinois’ stay at home order. We are very appreciative of everyone’s cooperation and support. We will continue to keep you informed.
