Morris Hospital Temporarily Limits COVID Testing Due to Supply Shortage
August 25, 2020, MORRIS, IL – Effective immediately, Morris Hospital is limiting COVID testing to symptomatic individuals who have a physician’s order due to the nationwide shortage of the reagent that is needed to perform the test. The hospital had been providing testing for anyone who wanted to be tested regardless of symptoms.
“We’ve been very proud of our testing capacity over the past few months and regret that we have to limit testing at this time to symptomatic individuals who have a physician’s order,” says Kimberly Wolfer, Laboratory Director at Morris Hospital. “It is our goal to resume widespread testing as a service to our community just as soon as supplies are more readily available.”
Morris Hospital’s drive-thru COVID testing will continue to be available by appointment for symptomatic individuals who have a physician’s order, as well as those who require testing prior to surgery or other procedure involving anesthesia. A Patient Access representative from the hospital will contact individuals who have a physician’s order to schedule an appointment.
Anyone with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 is reminded to self-isolate and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
