Morris Hospital Seeks Cloth Mask Donations

April 28, 2020, Morris, IL – Morris Hospital is seeking donations of cloth masks sewn by community volunteers. The masks will be distributed to outpatients and visitors coming to the hospital or any Morris Hospital location for medical appointments and services who do not have a mask of their own to put on before entering the facility. Donated masks will be laundered before being distributed to patients and visitors.

Volunteers will need to use their own materials and launder the fabric before sewing. All fabric must be new, machine-washable cotton, and come from a smoke-, dust-, pet-, and illness-free environment.

Recommended mask styles can be found at https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/. Any mask type from this website is acceptable. Adult masks are recommended; however children sizes will be accepted.

Instructions for a Sewn Cloth Face Covering can also be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html.

Finished masks should be placed in a closed plastic bag along with the donor’s full name, address, and phone number and dropped off at the main entrance of the hospital on weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. An in-kind donation receipt will be available at the time of drop off.
