Situated along the Illinois River near the intersections of State Routes 6 & 47 and just one mile off Interstate 80, Morris has a population of just over 12,000 people and features a full-time police department, fire department and ambulance service. In addition, visitors come from miles around to enjoy the small-town shopping that is available in Morris’ prospering downtown. There are also five hotels, a movie theater, restaurants, and a banquet hall located nearby. As the county seat of Grundy County, Morris not only offers residents the only hospital in the county, but also features the district’s library system, modern schools, small parks, ball diamonds, tennis courts, two golf courses and a public swimming pool. Gebhard Woods State Park and the Stratton State Park are also conveniently located for launching boats on the Illinois River. What’s more Morris is located in the southwestern region of Chicago’s Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area (only 55 miles southwest of Chicago)!
