Dr. Thomas: Belleville, Illinois.
Why did you become a physician?
Dr. Thomas: I have always enjoyed interacting with people and learning about the complexities of the human body.
If you couldn’t be a physician, what career would you have chosen?
Dr. Thomas: I think I would enjoy being a science teacher. In a way, it’s similar to being a physician.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
Dr. Thomas: I love to cook and spend time with my family. Pies are my specialty.
What is the longest road trip you have ever taken and to where?
Dr. Thomas: My two best friends and I drove to Colorado after we graduated from high school.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Dr. Thomas: I would improve my Spanish.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done while traveling?
Dr. Thomas: My husband and I hike around a volcano in Hawaii.
What’s the most important advice you have for patients?
Dr. Thomas: Be your own advocate and view the physician-patient relationship as a partnership.
