Urinary Incontinence

Physicians with Morris Hospital Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists perform the newest and least invasive surgical treatment for urinary continence. The procedure is called “tension-free vaginal tape (TVT),” which involves a minimally invasive procedure with an 86 percent cure rate for stress urinary incontinence. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in under 30 minutes under local, spinal or general anesthesia. The patient is discharged after voiding in the recovery room without a catheter and with no hospital stay. This lends itself to a speedy patient recovery, less cost to the patient and insurance company, great results, and quick return to work and normal every day activity.

Dr. Toussaint brought the laparoscopic burch procedure to Morris Hospital in 1995 and the first outpatient TVT bladder sling in 1999.  He was trained by Dr. Tim McKinney, a urogynecologist and pioneer in bladder surgery from New Jersey.  The procedure has a very high success rate for stress incontinence.
