February 25, 2010, MORRIS, IL – The Morris Hospital Auxiliary will host its 42nd Annual Ball on Saturday, March 20, at Jennifer’s Garden in Morris. This year’s theme is “Dancing with the Stars,” with proceeds being used to purchase SimMan® 3G, a human patient simulator that will assist with training and education of hospital staff and physicians.
Staff from the Morris Hospital Education department will be at the Ball with SimMan, providing guests an opportunity to see a live demonstration of the highly sophisticated, computer programmed manikin that breathes, blinks, has a heartbeat, accepts IV medications, has seizures, and goes into atrial fibrillation. The cost of the technology is just over $65,000.
“SimMan will be a wonderful addition to Morris Hospital by providing simulation-based education that challenges and tests our staff’s clinical and decision-making skills during realistic patient care scenarios,” says Jori Christensen, Education Manager at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. “Ultimately, this helps enhance the care we provide our patients.”
Another highlight being planned for the evening is a special ceremony honoring eight physicians who have served on the Morris Hospital medical staff for 25 years or longer. The physicians are: Dr. Joongsik Cho, Dr. Charles Comfort, Dr. Cesario Cumba, Dr. Van Hicks, Dr. Il Kim, Dr. John Roth, Dr. Beatriz Setrini and Dr. Vic Tsai.
The Ball will begin at 6:00 p.m. with cocktail and appetizers. Dinner will served at 7:00 p.m. Before and during dinner, guests will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items donated by local businesses and friends in the community. Following dinner, Richard A. Olson & Associates, Inc. will conduct a live auction of spectacular packages including trips, sporting events, and entertainment. The Gold Coast Orchestra will provide music for dancing.
The Morris Hospital Auxiliary Ball has been an annual tradition since 1968 when the first Ball was held at the Morris Country Club. Over the years, proceeds from the Ball have enabled the hospital to make special purchases and offer services that have benefited the community.
Ticket prices are $280 per couple at the Silver Benefactor level, $350 at the Gold Benefactor level, $500 at the Platinum Benefactor level, $1,000 per couple at the Diamond Benefactor level, and $1,500 for a corporate table. The names of patrons will be listed in the Ball program at the designated giving level.
