Medical School: Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School, Mexico

 

Training: Residency and Fellowship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago, with additional Fellowship training at South Miami Hospital. 
 

Special Honors: Dr. De Girolami has received  several distinguished awards throughout his career. He was named the Chicago Metropolitan Top Doctor in 2001 by the Castle Connolly Guide, American's Top Physician in 2003 by the Consumer's Research Council, and Physician of the Year in 2003 by the National Republican Congressional Committee Physician Advisory Board.

Dr. De Girolami: My grandfather, father, and two older siblings are doctors. 

 

If you couldn't be a physician, what career would you have chosen and why?
Dr. De Girolami: If not a physician, then a pastor, devoted to the ministry of telling people about Jesus Christ.


What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
Dr. De Girolami: My favorite thing to do when I'm not working is going to church, reading Scripture, and spending time with my family.

Where is the farthest you have been from home?
Dr. De Girolami: The farthest I have been from home is Europe.

What type of pets do you have?
Dr. De Girolami: I have two German shepherds.

What is your favorite type of music?
Dr. De Girolami: My favorite music is Christian music.

What's the most important advice you have for patients?
Dr. De Girolami: Develop excellent communication with your doctor.
